Chad Brown, Todd Pletcher and Bob Baffert all have top contenders for this years Kentucky Derby.

Bob Baffert sends a young fast improving colt from the west coast to challenge this years Derby field. Justify is coming into this years Derby as undefeated in only 3 lifetime starts, his latest an impressive looking win in the Santa Anita Derby. Chad Brown will saddle the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes winner Good Magic. Good Magic is a son of the fabulous stallion Curlin, who finished 3rd in the Derby, won the Preakness and finished 2nd in the Belmont Stakes. Good Magic won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Delmar last year, so his form is already proven.  Bred in Kentucky by Stonestreet, this good looking colt is a serious contender.

Todd Pletcher is known for showing up loaded to the classic races and this year is no exception. He has 4 of the current 5 top contenders to win the race. Magnum Moon was unraced as a 2yo but has burst on the scene in a big way this year. He won the Rebel Stakes at 1 1/8 miles to secure his spot in this years field. However no horse has won the KY Derby that was unraced at 2yo since 1892 when Apollo did it.

Pletcher will saddle the Florida Derby winner Audible in this years KY Derby as well. The Florida Derby has produced a good number of KY Derby winners, so he is a definite contender for this years roses. Owned by WinStar Farm LLC, China Horse Club Ltd. And SF Racing LLC. It would be no surprise if he were to finish close or even win this years run for the roses.

Plecther also sends useful runners Noble Indy, who won the Louisiana Derby at the Fair Grounds. Noble Indy is a son of Take Charge Indy, he is owned by WinStar Farms LLC and Repole Stable. Vino Rosso winner of the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct is yet another Todd Pletcher horse. Vino Rosso is a son of Curlin, out of a Street Cry mare, so you know he will get the distance.

It is shaping up to be a great race, with the winner likely coming from a top trainers stable. This years Kentucky Derby will be held on May 5th at Churchill Downs. by Kerry Zangara
